SCH, the Mysterious Marseillais
Born in Marseille in 1993 under the name Julien Schwarzer, SCH quickly established himself as a key figure in French rap. With German and Italian roots, SCH grew up in a multicultural environment, and both his heritage and the vibrant spirit of Marseille deeply influenced his artistic identity. After making his first moves in the collectives 13ème Art and Black Mafia, his rise truly began in 2015 with the mixtape A7, a dark and introspective project that showcased not only his raspy voice but also his sharp pen. With tracks like « Gomorra » and « Champs-Élysées, » SCH managed to capture the public’s attention, thanks to his unique universe that skillfully blends melancholy, grandeur, and street tales, offering listeners a distinct experience within the French rap scene.
The Pen and Charisma of the S
SCH doesn’t just follow the codes of Marseillais rap; rather, he redefines them with his own unique twist. With a keen visual aesthetic and polished productions, he draws inspiration from Italian gangster films as well as Marseille’s own rich mythology to build his personal legend. In his early studio albums, Anarchie and Deo Favente, he demonstrates a rare artistic maturity, chaining vivid metaphors with introspective punchlines that resonate deeply with his audience. His writing is dense and cinematic, turning each track into a sonic painting where violence, loyalty, and personal tragedies intertwine seamlessly. SCH sets his own style: a potent mix of raw brutality and poetic nuance, all wrapped in a magnetic charisma that has earned him a loyal and passionate following.
The Shooting Star That Keeps Shining
Over time, SCH has not only lived up to the expectations set for him but has continually reinvented his art, proving his versatility and creative depth. His discography has expanded with diverse projects like Rooftop and JVLIVS II, where he explores new sounds and themes while still staying true to his core: a luminous darkness, a melancholy that grooves and lingers. He has also multiplied high-profile collaborations with artists such as Ninho, Lacrim, and Jul, each time bringing his unique touch and enhancing the tracks with his signature style. SCH is like a shooting star, capable of transforming the mundane into the epic, and reality into fiction. Without ever betraying his essence, he continues to shine on the French rap scene as a unique, elusive, and utterly fascinating entity that defies easy categorization.
