Mustafa – DUNYA

A Breath of Fresh Air in Trap Rap: 21 Lil Harold Stands Out

Honestly, this project is a true work of art. On one hand, you can hear the blend of sounds and influences that define the artist’s universe, ranging from soul and R&B to Arabic-inspired melodies, creating an exceptional mix.

Furthermore, when judging an album and its music to determine if it’s a masterpiece, the social context and the message play a crucial role. This is perfectly embodied in this project by an artist who grew up in Canada, with an upbringing that merges North American and Sudanese cultures. This unique background adds immense richness to Mustafa’s sound.

I also find the vocal performance to be authentic and masterful, perfectly aligned with the instrumentals. I appreciate that the artist keeps vocal collaborations to a minimum, focusing instead on his own voice. Even though notable names like Rosalía contribute to the production, it underscores that the project’s primary goal is to convey a message.
